Example Sentences

Learning vocabulary is great, but seeing the words in real sentences helps you remember them much faster. Here are a few simple examples of how to use Spanish days in everyday situations:

  • Hoy es lunes. – Today is Monday.
Use this simple structure to talk about what day it is today.
  • El viernes voy al cine. – On Friday I go to the cinema.
The preposition “el” (on) is used before days: el lunes, el martes, etc.
  • El domingo es mi día favorito. – Sunday is my favorite day.
Perfect for talking about routines and preferences!

Tip: Try saying a few sentences about your own week — what you do on each day. Personal connections make it easier to remember new words.

Tips to Remember the Days

At first glance, you’ll notice that most Spanish days look quite different from English ones — but many end with -es or -o, which helps you spot patterns!

Here’s how to memorize them effectively:

  1. Listen and repeat – Say each day aloud three times a day for a week. Focus on pronunciation — especially Miércoles and Jueves.
  2. Connect with your routine – Think of what you do on each day. For example: El lunes trabajo. (I work on Monday.) El domingo descanso. (I rest on Sunday.)
  3. Use flashcards – Write the English name on one side and the Spanish name on the other. Test yourself until you can recall them easily.
  4. Practice with a calendar – Change your phone or computer calendar to Spanish for a week! Seeing the days daily helps them stick naturally.

With just a few minutes of daily practice, you’ll soon be saying all the days of the week in Spanish without even thinking about it.
